As Seen in Nature
Botanical Name: Sequoia sempervirens
Common Name: Coastal Redwood
Story of the Tree
This tree was collected in the Santa Cruz mountains in 2013. Because of its curved trunk, I styled it as a slant rather than a formal upright — a choice the tree itself suggested, and one that mirrors how redwoods actually grow in the wild.
Powerful in its base and taper, the gentle curve adds grace and elegance to what might otherwise have been a rigid form.
