Goldfish – A Quiet Summer Moment
Botanical Name: Carassius auratus, Aegagropila linnaei
Common Name: Goldfish, marimo moss
Story of the Tree
This non-traditional piece is an experimental element of the group shohin display, offering a moment of playfulness and a glimpse of the glistening summer days ahead of us.
Resting in the lower quarter of the stand, it evokes the delicate touch of water on a quiet, sunny afternoon—a time when the breeze is glistening, the shadows are rustling, the neighbour's cat is fast asleep, and a single goldfish shimmers against the soft embrace of its watery cell.
Stirring some movement into the stillness, it reminds us of those peaceful yet exuberant summer days — an invitation from the future to bring the brightness of the present moment with you when going forward.
Hope the display brings a smile to your face, and hope the smile illuminates your paths ahead.
Note: This tank will NOT be the goldfish's forever home. A fish bowl of this size is too small for the long-term wellness of a goldfish, which can live for decades and continues to grow in size and appetite. After this weekend, the goldfish will be moved to a much larger aquarium and introduced to the many other creatures living there.
