Story of the Tree

The first bonsai show I ever attended was Kusamura's Annual Show in June of 2017. Jonas Dupuich was the headliner, and his demo was the first styling of a young cork bark oak — this tree. I put $20 into raffle tickets and I won.

I was so self-conscious about not being a member that I heard — or imagined I heard — whispers: "she's not even a member." I went immediately to Hal, paid my first dues, and joined the club before my photo was taken with Jonas and the tree.

So this oak became my introduction to Kusamura and all my bonsai friends.
