Japanese Black Pine – A Workshop’s First Touch
Botanical Name: Pinus thunbergii
Common Name: Japanese Black Pine
Story of the Tree
This Japanese Black Pine began its training in 2005, during a workshop led by renowned bonsai artist Marco Invernizzi—held at the home of John and Sandy Planting.
That session marked the tree’s first formal styling, laying the foundation for its future shape and structure. Since then, it has been cared for and refined with an eye toward honoring that original vision.
At 38 inches tall, the tree now stands with presence and maturity—a living reminder of the power of shared knowledge and the roots that form in both tree and community.
