Prostrata Juniper – Rooted in Community, Styled with Art
Botanical Name: Juniperus chinensis 'Prostrata'
Common Name: Prostrata Juniper
Story of the Tree
This Prostrata Juniper was first styled in 2000 by Bill Scott during a Kusamura Bonsai Club potting party—a casual but formative moment that began the tree’s journey into bonsai.
Years later, it found its new home in a hand-crafted resin slab, made by Josef Rauschenberg of Bonsai Kreativ, a collective of artists from Austria, Hungary, and Czechoslovakia. The slab was imported by Steve Iwaki, who passed it along—adding another thread to the tree’s growing network of caretakers and collaborators.
Now in development, the tree reflects the blend of local tradition and international artistry, grounded in community and nurtured by shared passion.
