Seiju Elm – A Shared Vision
Botanical Name: Ulmus parvifolia 'Seiju'
Common Name: Seiju Elm
Story of the Tree
This Seiju Elm has been in training since around 1995, and was originally styled by Bill Scott—an artist better known for his work with junipers, though he cultivated many elms in his collection as well.
Hal acquired the tree about ten years ago, inheriting not just the material, but the foundation of another bonsai artist’s vision.
Since then, he has worked to refine and build upon that original design, honoring the tree’s structure while continuing its evolution. The result is a tree shaped through collaboration across time—one that reflects both legacy and fresh perspective.
