Story of the Tree

This Shimpaku Juniper began its bonsai journey at the Dallas Bonsai Convention in 2002, where Ray first trained it during a workshop held alongside a demonstration by bonsai master Masahiko Kimura.

It is one of two trees started at that event—the second was styled by Ray’s daughter, Nickala, and remains in his care to this day.

More than just a piece of material, this tree carries with it the memory of a shared moment in learning and tradition, set in motion over two decades ago.

It’s a tree that holds technique, time, and connection—all in its branches.
