Trident Maple Forest – Grown Together

Botanical Name: Acer buergerianum

Common Name: Trident Maple Forest

Story of the Tree

This Trident Maple Forest began in 2001, with trees selected during a Kusamura Club field trip to Tassajara Nursery. The original planting was a group endeavor—gathered as a moment of shared enthusiasm and potential.

Over the years, Steve has repositioned and added trees, gradually shaping the forest into the harmonious composition it is today. Like a landscape shaped by time, the forest has matured with intention, patience, and subtle revisions.

In 2022, the forest was repotted into a piece by Nao Tokutake, a potter known for his deep glazes and clean forms—bringing visual balance and grounding to the planting.

This forest is more than a group of trees. It is a quiet record of collaboration, personal vision, and long-term care, grown together over decades.
